This past Friday night, we had ourselves a little date night. We decided on Sweet Cheeks BBQ by Fenway because we’ve been here before for drinks but never a meal. I was craving some good BBQ so this was a good opportunity to try this place out. When we arrived, the restaurant was packed so we had to wait a bit.
Luckily there were some bar seats by the window open so we decided to grab them because we were starving. It’s hard to tell by the picture but Selma is sitting in a space between the bar top and the window just big enough for someone her size.
Selma started off with their Mary Palmer (grapefruit juice, vodka, lemonade and tea) and I got my usual Lone Star.
We also got the bucket o´ biscuits with whipped honey butter to start. The biscuits were a perfect mix of fluffy and dry and the whipped honey butter was down right ridiculous. Plus, these bad boys were massive so we took two of them home for breakfast the next morning.
Selma got the beef brisket with broccoli casserole and carrot & raisin salad. Each slice of brisket was about 10 in. long and cut thick (which is probably my only complaint). Other than that, the brisket had a nice smokey bark and the sides were fantastic.
I ordered the BBQ pulled chicken with mac & cheese and potato salad on the side. The chicken was moist and succulent and both side dishes tasted home made.
The portions here were huge so we had to take left overs home. I think this is one of the few restaurants in Boston where you really get what you pay for in terms of portions. The place is a little on the pricier side but you get a ton of food. Overall, this place can definitely hold its own with some of the best smokehouses back in Texas. We will definitely be coming back here in the near future.
