Awhile back, I purchased a Gilt City voucher for brunch for two at Clink in the Liberty Hotel. For those who are unfamiliar with the hotel, it used to be a prison housing some of Boston’s most notorious criminals. The prison was shut down after being declared unfit and in violation of the inmates’ constitutional rights. It was then remodeled and transformed into a 5 star hotel while preserving significant elements of the prison honoring it’s personality and history. They even have bars (haha…pun) and restaurants named Alibi , The Yard, and Clink! In other words, you should definitely visit this historical and classy venue if you’re ever in the area.
We were so excited about this brunch for two reasons. First, we knew the food would be bangin. Second, we get to dine in what were once prison cells!
The voucher was a steal. For $30, we each got juice, coffee, mimosa’s (or bloody marry’s but we’re not fans), an entree each and a dessert to share! Notice the bars next to our table in the picture below!
Selma ordered the Eggs Benedict which came out amazing. The eggs were perfectly poached and the hollandaise sauce was incredible. It even came with a little fruit cup with berries! Definitely a change from the dining hall fruit salad we were used to.
I got the Brioche French Toast with Pear & Cranberry Compote, Whipped Cream and Vermont Maple Syrup. This was one of the best french toasts I’ve had in awhile. The use of brioche was definitely different from traditional french toasts but it worked beautifully.
For dessert, we got the pineapple sorbet to share. We were so full by this point but we powered through to the end like champs.
If there is ever another deal for this place, we are definitely jumping on it. The hotel is gorgeous and the food is exceptional. This place is definitely worth a visit.
